Dear site visitor,
Welcome to our MPL school website.
This may be your first contact with the school and you may not yet have been in to visit us yet in person. If so, I'd like to extend a very warm welcome to you and to encourage you to browse around the site. If you are considering MPL as the school of choice for your child, then I would strongly encourage you to come in and meet me, my brilliant staff and wonderful children.
We are a village school in the community of Bricket Wood, which sits between Watford and St Albans and we serve a diverse range of families. The majority of our children live in the village itself, but there are also many who come to us from surrounding communities (including Garston, Abbots Langley, Chiswell Green, Park Street). The school has been on this site for over 80 years now and many of our parents and grandparents attended the school themselves and have really fond memories of their time here. This makes for a school that is cared about deeply by everyone involved and helps us to maintain those links after children have left.
We have 12 classes, including a morning Nursery - there are approximately 350 children at the school in total. Our physical site is large and we are particularly proud of the outdoor environment that we have available for extended learning opportunities. We have a big playing field, two wooded areas, an all-weather surface and numerous items of play equipment for the children to enjoy.
Inside the school, we focus on developing children who are confident and active learners, who are able to think creatively as well as excelling at their cores skills of Maths English and Science. Our last two Ofsted inspections have been consistently 'Good' in all areas and we are now firmly aiming for an 'Outstanding' rating in the longer term. This would be a suitable reflection on the excellent work that my staff team does to look after and develop our children as successful people and learners.
I look forward to meeting you in person.
At MPL we ensure that through our school vision, values, rules, diverse curriculum and teaching we promote tolerance and respect for all cultures, faiths and lifestyles.
